Breathing is something we do automatically, without even thinking about it. But what if we told you that conscious breathing could be the key to unlocking a deeper sense of calm, clarity, and connection? The Science Behind Conscious Breathing
When we're stressed or anxious, our breathing becomes shallow and rapid. This can lead to a state of hypervigilance, making it difficult to relax and focus. Conscious breathing, on the other hand, slows down our heart rate, lowers blood pressure, and increases oxygenation of the brain. This can lead to:
- Reduced stress and anxiety
- Improved mood and cognitive function
- Enhanced self-awareness and emotional regulation
- Better sleep quality
How to Practice Breathing:
1. Find a quiet and comfortable space to sit or lie down
2. Close your eyes and bring your attention to your breath
3. Focus on the sensation of the breath moving in and out of your body
4. When your mind wanders, gently bring it back to your breath
5. Start with short sessions (5-10 minutes) and gradually increase as you become more comfortable with the practice.
-Play the game of reconnecting with feeling your breath throughout your day, such as while walking or during meditation.
- Use a mantra or phrase to repeat with each breath. Use the mantra to fully connect and feel the state of the mantra you are using, do not use an “empty word practice”.
Reconnecting with your breathing is a simple yet powerful tool for cultivating calm, clarity, and connection. By revisiting this practice throughout your day, you can experience a deeper sense of well-being and Joy!
