Odeta Vaitkunas Cole came to yoga looking for ways to become stronger and more flexible, but she found much more than that. At that time, she had been experiencing back pain that often left her immobile and in need of a chiropractor multiple times a week. After learning how to align her own body through yoga, her pain all but disappeared.
Born in Lithuania and raised with a love for nature, the connection that Odeta feels on the mat is one that is similar to the connection she feels with the earth around her. Having spent much of her childhood traveling, she brings her love of other cultures to her classes, where you can expect to hear sounds and music from all over the world.
For Odeta, balance is essential to form the bond that is so vital in a yoga class: while she encourages her students to take their practice very seriously, she also wants them to laugh and enjoy themselves. By connecting with her students, she encourages them to push their boundaries, because as Henry Ford said, “if you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.”
As a RYT 200, Odeta completed her training at Reflections Yoga with Paula Tursi in addition to studying Thai yoga with Peter Kaaberbøl Kristensen. Specializing in Asana and alignment-based yoga, her classes emphasize the importance of loving the body you’re in and understanding how each part of it works in unity. She believes that by practicing Asanas, without even realizing it, we start reshaping our inner world.
